GNCTR 2025 marked the 51st year of competition, and McMaster Engineering Concrete Toboggan Team had the opportunity to take part in the event held in Montreal, Quebec, from January 22nd to 26th. This year, the team rolled into competition with a Magic School Bus theme, bringing fun and creativity to the design and team spirit.
The brakes sub-team, led by Lauren Fticar, developed a reliable stopping system that earned 2nd place. The steering sub-team, Madeline Smith and Jenna Ridgway, created a responsive design that secured 1st place. Claire Schleger, leading the superstructure sub-team, built a strong and lightweight frame that also earned 1st place. The concrete sub-team, Rowan Hiscoe-Dillon and Sydney Taylor, produced high-performing skis and took home 3rd place.
The theme sub-team, Japneet Cheema and Anissa Kotecha, brought the theme to life from the toboggan to the technical exhibition display to the costumes , while the spirit sub-team, Dani Svenson and Alexandra Salvino, helped maintain energy and enthusiasm throughout the week, earning 3rd place in spirit. Sponsorship efforts, led by Madeleine Lloyd, supported the team through key fundraising and outreach.
Team captains Trevor Campbell and Liam Kamerman helped lead the team throughout the year, supporting the work across all sub-teams. MECTT was proud to bring home several top finishes and represent Mac at GNCTR 2025.
